iMac and Mac

Choosing an iMac depends mainly on your needs and the software you use. For browsing the internet, office work or working from home, a refurbished iMac fitted with an Intel processor or an Apple M1 chip is perfectly suitable.

For more demanding tasks such as photo editing, video editing or graphic design, opt for an iMac fitted with an Apple M3 or M4 chip, with sufficient RAM.
Screen size is also important: a 24-inch iMac offers a comfortable user experience whilst taking up little space on a desk, whilst a 27-inch iMac provides a larger workspace.

For office work and remote working, a refurbished iMac with an Apple M1 chip and 8 GB of RAM is a good option. It allows you to use software such as Word, Excel, Teams or Zoom comfortably, whilst browsing the internet and managing your emails. An Intel-based iMac may also be suitable for these purposes, provided you check its compatibility with the necessary software. For more intensive multitasking, 16 GB of RAM will provide a smoother experience. Thanks to its built-in display, the iMac is a practical solution for setting up a home workspace.

For video editing, photo editing or graphic design, opt for a refurbished iMac fitted with an Apple M3 or M4 chip, offering performance suited to professional software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom or Final Cut Pro. A minimum of 16 GB of RAM is recommended for working comfortably on demanding projects. The iMac’s Retina displays offer excellent resolution and detailed visuals, which are particularly valuable for visual work.

For added comfort, some iMacs also feature a nano-textured display, designed to reduce glare in bright environments. This is an attractive option for image professionals.

The main difference between an Intel iMac and an iMac equipped with an Apple M chip lies in their architecture and performance. Intel iMacs are fitted with processors designed by Intel and offer good performance for office work, remote working and certain professional applications, whilst providing excellent value for money.

iMacs with Apple M1, M3 or M4 chips, on the other hand, feature an architecture developed by Apple, offering better energy efficiency and performance optimised for macOS. Both technologies therefore have their advantages: the choice depends mainly on your usage, your software requirements and your budget.

The Apple M1, M3 and M4 chips correspond to different generations of iMac, each offering performance tailored to a variety of needs. The M1 iMac is ideal for office work, studying, working from home and everyday use. The M3 iMac offers more power, particularly for multitasking, photo editing and creative applications. The more recent M4 chip further improves performance, particularly for demanding tasks and certain artificial intelligence-related features.

When choosing your refurbished iMac, you should also take into account the amount of RAM, the storage capacity and your budget.

A standard iMac display has a glossy surface that delivers a crisp picture, vibrant colours and excellent contrast. The nano-textured display, available on certain iMac configurations, features a special glass coating designed to reduce reflections and glare. It is particularly useful in very bright environments, such as offices situated near a window or under direct lighting. Both types of display offer excellent image quality, but the nano-textured display provides additional visual comfort when reflections are a nuisance. The choice therefore depends mainly on your working environment and your preferences.

A second-hand iMac is usually sold ‘as is’ by its previous owner, without necessarily having undergone thorough technical checks. In contrast, a refurbished iMac undergoes a process of inspection and refurbishment before being put up for sale. At Okamac, refurbished iMacs are checked to ensure they are in full working order. They may show signs of use depending on their cosmetic condition, but this does not affect their functionality. Buying a refurbished iMac therefore allows you to enjoy an Apple computer at a more affordable price than a new one, whilst promoting the reuse of electronic equipment.

No, the refurbished iMacs sold by Okamac do not come with a keyboard or mouse. However, you can add a Magic Mouse and/or a Magic Keyboard to your order.

iMacs with an Intel processor come with a 12-month warranty, whilst iMacs with an Apple M chip come with a 24-month warranty.

The warranty covers hardware faults, as well as the parts and labour required to repair your Mac (excluding the operating system and software).

For even longer protection, you can also take out our 2-year Premium Warranty extension, available directly on each product page.
