What Are the Cosmetic Grades of a
Refurbished Product?

All our Macs offer the same performance and reliability. The only difference is their appearance, which may vary depending on the cosmetic grade. Here you can discover what each grade means, with representative photos to help you make the right choice.

How Cosmetic Grading Works at Okamac

During the refurbishment process, each Mac is systematically assigned a cosmetic grade. This grade evaluates the external appearance of the computer and transparently informs you about any visible signs of previous use.

Cosmetic grades are purely visual and have no impact on performance, reliability, or functionality. All our refurbished Macs go through exactly the same refurbishment process, with the same quality checks and the same level of standards, regardless of their cosmetic grade.

There is currently no official grading standard for refurbished products. Each seller therefore applies their own evaluation scale depending on their quality requirements. As a result, the same Mac could be classified as “Excellent condition” by one seller and “Very good condition” by another.

At Okamac, our grades are defined using clear criteria and applied with strict standards, in order to provide transparency and consistency and help you make the right choice.

At Okamac, we distinguish three cosmetic grades:

  • Excellent condition
  • Very good condition
  • Good condition

Each grade corresponds to a different level of visible wear, while still guaranteeing a 100% functional device refurbished in France by our experts, with a battery capacity above 80%.

The role of the cosmetic grade is primarily informational: it allows you to choose your Mac with confidence according to your aesthetic expectations and your budget.

Excellent Condition

Devices graded Excellent Condition are the closest to a “like new” appearance.

They may show:

  • very light micro‑scratches
  • barely visible marks from normal use

However, this grade does not include dents, casing deformation, sticker marks, or noticeable cosmetic damage.

Overall, the Mac maintains a clean and almost pristine look, making it the ideal choice for customers who want a refurbished device that looks as close as possible to new.

Very Good Condition

A Mac in Very Good Condition still looks very clean but may show slightly more visible signs of use.

This may include:

  • a faint sticker mark
  • a small dent or minor casing deformation
  • a more noticeable scratch

These marks remain limited and isolated and do not affect the overall appearance of the device.

The screen may show very light marks, but they will not be visible when the display is on.

This grade offers a great balance between appearance and price, making it a popular choice among customers.

Good Condition

The Good Condition grade includes devices with more visible cosmetic signs of use.

This may include:

  • visible scratches or marks on the casing
  • worn or slightly dented corners
  • noticeable sticker marks

The screen may also have visible marks, but these remain purely cosmetic and do not affect functionality.

This grade is perfect for customers who prioritize value over appearance, while still enjoying a fully reliable refurbished Mac.

Same Performance, Whatever the Grade

Regardless of the cosmetic grade you choose, all our refurbished Macs go through the same refurbishment process, the same technical checks, and the same level of quality standards. More than twenty checkpoints are systematically verified.

Before shipping, each Mac also undergoes a complete cleaning.

The external appearance has no impact on the computer’s functionality, which remains reliable, high‑performing, and ready to use.

Choosing a cosmetic grade therefore depends only on your visual expectations and your budget.

Now that you understand the differences between our cosmetic grades, you can explore our refurbished Macs with complete confidence.

And if price matters more to you than appearance, our Vilains Petits Macs are the perfect alternative: fully functional computers with more visible signs of use, offered at especially attractive prices.
